Pentland Hills

Well it was an early start for a Saturday, well for us anyway. We’d organised to go for a bit of a hike up through the Pentlands Hills, with some new friends Renata & Pawel. We work with Renata at RSTO and they just recently made the move from Paisley to Edinburgh. Last week we went over to their place for an awesome dinner. This week a 4hr hike up and over some dramatic hills.

The weather looked a little ominous, we weren’t sure whether it was going to be rain or snow but onwards we trekked. The ground was a little swampy, icy and slippery, as we tried very hard to not slip or get too wet and muddy. 30min in the question was asked “how long have we been going for? its gotta been an hour at least”. It wasn’t too hard trekking at this point, although ahead loomed a myriad of hills whos peaks dissapeared into the clouds, that’s where we were headed.

The next 2hrs seem to be consumed purely of hiking up and down slippery slopes. Somehow I seemed to be the only one who felt like sliding all over the place. Now our legs were getting a little tired, finally after hiking up the highest peak in Pentlands it was downhill and back out, well an hour later it was anyway. And luckily the weather held out.

It was a great day out, got the blood flowing and we’re going to sleep well tonight.
