Sevilla: By Day & Night

After a lazy morning, we went on a free walking tour around Seville at 4pm. It was great because we walked through many places in town that we may not have found had we been walking around ourselves. We learned a bit about the history of Seville, various different landmarks and stories behind each of them, the process of bull fighting and more.

The tour was about 2 and a half hours in total, and we then had to rush home, have some dinner (along with yet more sangria and cerveza – beer) and head out to a performance of Flamenco dancing, which was very entertaining. We met up with some others from the Hostel while there.

There are a lot of English speakers in both Madrid and Seville. Most are from Germany. So it’s nice to talk to people in English, but it’s tiring to have the same conversation over and over again with new people every day: “How long have you been here?”, “Where have you been?”, “Where are you going next?”, “How long are you traveling for?”, “Where are you from?”. Oh, and finally “By the way, what’s your name??”. Funnily enough, that last one is usually missed out in our conversations. No one ever asks, “what do you do (for a living)?” which is the standard question asked at home, or at a place where people are not traveling, but living. It’s quite refreshing!
