Buses, Ferries, Trains and Automobiles

We are at the southernmost point on our journey (Marrakech), from here its only up.

Sorry no pictures as of yet. It was a pretty drab day, overcast and rainy and an overnight on a train. Concentrated mainly on the travel, with over 1000kms or travel down and starting to feel it a little.

Caught the bus @ 930 am from Sevilla down to Tarifa. Tarifa if you don’t know is the Mecca for wind sports. So albeit miserable and off season there were quite a few kiters and wind surfers out on the water having a blast. Really was jealous and would love to have done some. But I fear the water temp would have been a little cold. Hung about the town for a while to whittle down the hours as we knew our train to Marrakech was @ 930pm(plus we also gained 2hrs). Had a wonderful hamburger and chips meal washed down with an ice cold beer, it really hit the spot.

Then caught the Ferry across to Tanger. There was a constant line up on the boat for something that we couldnt work out. Finally we sticky beaked it in and there were stamping visas for entry(bit odd as it was two guys with a laptop, i say guys but they were plain closed police), just as well we did this because customs was basically non-existant.

As we arrived it started to spit, we thought nothing of it and decided to walk to the station. It was only a couple of kms but it got a bit heavier as we went. Got a little wet but we got to the station and had ample time to dry off. Had a panini and chips with hot chocolate while we waited.

Finally we were able to board the train, it was late and we were happy to be on the move again. Sadly to our surprise we only had seats(we thought we were going to have basic bunks), comfortable seats but seats for 11hrs of night travel. We survived, we’ve done worse. Arrived in Marrakech caught a petit taxi to Djeema El-Fna and then had to walk through some winding streets to our hostel. Thought we were going to get lost but funnily enough, not a wrong turn. Phew!

So after some ~24hrs of travel, four forms of transport and over 1000kms we are in Marrakech.
