Mum and Dad visited us at Mount Maunganui in February. I loved to show them the place I’ve fallen in love with.
We did some kayaking and general exploring. I’ll never forget the morning Mum came into the living room and said to me, “Shall we walk up the mount, Meg?” I perked up like a dog!
We managed to squeeze in a road trip up north. We spent the week in Pahia and didn’t venture further because the rain came and decided it would stick around the entire time. Nevertheless we managed to get out and visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and see the town a bit. I felt like an only child with my parents since Isaac couldn’t make it up there. I spent a lot of time hiking in the mountains (yes I know it was irresponsible and dumb of me to go alone, promise I won’t do it again) and returning looking like a drowned rat, and hanging out in the hot tub and the pool. Hopefully next time you are over, Mum and Dad, it won’t rain quite so much.
